Happy Earth Day 2021! Earth Day symbolizes a global desire to protect the planet we live on. Now more than ever, our planet needs our help to keep it healthy for future generations. Let’s take some time to appreciate our beautiful planet, as well as spread awareness on how to make a positive impact on Earth.
How Budsies Celebrates Earth Day Everyday
Part of our mission here at Budsies is to have integrity and do the right thing. We believe it’s important to be conscious of our environmental impact. Check out some of the efforts we’ve made to help keep Earth happy!
- Provide metal stirrers at our headquarters to reduce plastic waste.
- Provide and encourage the use of reusable mugs to our employees instead of disposable cups.
- Supply compostable plant-based utensils at our headquarters.
- Recycle all of our cardboard.
- Installed tinted windows to reduce our use of air conditioning at our headquarters.
- Set our thermostat so that it’s not running and using electricity when it’s not needed.
- Donate unused sample plushies so they get a second life.
- Switched to new tissue paper that is made from 100% post manufactured materials and water-based inks.
Pro Tip: The PolyBags we use to ship out our pillows and international orders can be recycled by many grocery stores or big box stores that accept plastic bags. Home Depot, Whole Foods, Public, Target accept plastic mailers in drop-off bins! Check out six easy tips on how you can make a difference too.
1. Avoid Plastic Disposables
Did you know that one plastic grocery bag takes 10-20 years to break down? Try bringing your own reusable bag the next time you go grocery shopping. When you work out or go on a picnic in the park, fill up your own reusable water bottle.
2. Volunteer to Clean Up
Volunteering to clean up is one of the easiest things you can do to help our planet! Head over to your local park, beach, or alongside roads and pick up some waste (with gloves of course!) Even better, create a clean-up event with your friends and family!
3. Plant Trees
This one might go without saying, but planting trees is a great way to help improve our environment. Planting a tree is an easy way to remove the carbon dioxide from our atmosphere, and a great way to counteract deforestation.
4. Recycle What You Can
Sometimes it may be necessary to use disposable plastic water bottles or bags. When you do, make sure that you recycle them properly. The same goes for paper materials, glass, metals, and batteries. You can learn more about how to properly recycle here. Don’t forget you can always make some fun crafts from old plastic bottles and jugs.
5. Unplug Your Devices
Unplug your electronics when they’re not being charged. Devices that are left plugged in, even while turned off, still consume power. Though it is a negligible amount, it adds up over time!
6. Don’t Stop After Earth Day
Earth Day may only be one day a year, but these Earth Day tips are important and easy to keep in mind each and every day. You can’t do all these environmental actions in one day anyway! Store these tips in your memory and work on them as often as possible. Whether it’s daily, weekly, or monthly – Every minor detail makes a huge difference in helping Mother Earth.
