Let me introduce you to Ms. Shannon Anderson. I guarantee she will be <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> teacher for numerous students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ms. Shannon teaches third grade at Van Rensselaer Elementary School in Rensselaer, Indiana. But she\u2019s doing more than teaching her students reading, writing, math and science. She is inspiring our next generation and making learning fun.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just how fun? Take a look:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Budsies Stuffed Animal Project\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DFMgsyLGNL8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Book Characters Come to Life with Budsies<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ms. Shannon isn&#8217;t handing out just any stuffed animals from that box. They are <\/span><a href=\"\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Budsies, <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">custom plushies created from each students&#8217; drawing of their main character from the book they wrote. That\u2019s right, these eight and nine year old students first came up with a book idea, then wrote the book, and made an illustration of their main character. Ms. Shannon then sent those photos to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Budsies<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which brought their characters to life as <a href=\"\/budsies-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one-of-a-kind stuffed animals<\/a>! She&nbsp;also had each students&#8217; book hard-bound. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ms. Shannon said it takes about a month for each student to go from idea to the final draft. When the Budsies characters arrive, the class holds a big reveal party where each student takes a turn coming up to the box to see what their illustration turned into. \u201cThey are always very happily surprised to see how cool their characters look,\u201d said Ms. Shannon. &#8220;The kids hold their characters during reading time each day. They absolutely love them,&#8221; she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2444 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.budsies.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/2018\/03\/image1-2.jpeg\" alt=\"inspiring teacher stories 1\" width=\"1632\" height=\"1224\"><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The teacher&nbsp;also hosts a publishing party for students along with their parents to celebrate their accomplishments. The books and plushies are on display so everyone can see them. After the party, the kids get to take the books and Budsies home to enjoy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How the Special Publishing Project was Born<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ms. Shannon is also a children&#8217;s <a href=\"\/blog\/stories\/aaron-ozee-book-character\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">book author<\/a>. She started the book project about 24 years ago. However, when she saw Budsies for the first time she knew she had to find a way to include these amazing custom stuffed animals in &nbsp;her special publishing project. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis is a very special keepsake these kids will cherish,\u201d said Ms. Shannon. \u201cThey get to see this character they created come to life as a three dimensional being. It&#8217;s a great feeling!\u201d The third grade teacher&nbsp;says she takes advantage of several grants to help with the associated costs for each student to have his or her own book and Budsie.
